Boro "Bob" Skoric

President & Ceo of Skoric Hearing Aid Center

Boro "Bob" Skoric has spent nearly 40 years helping people reconnect with the world through sound. As an audioprosthologist and board-certified in hearing instrument sciences, he consistently combines expertise with a genuine passion for improving the lives of others. His work in the hearing industry has never been just a job for him; it has always been a mission. Today, he is the president and founder of Beltone-Skoric Hearing Aid Center, a network of 37 locations across northern Michigan. Despite this success, his core mission has never wavered—helping individuals hear, feel, and live a whole life again.

From the Stage to the Clinic

Boro was born in Eastern Europe and now lives in West Palm Beach, Florida. However, his journey into the hearing care industry started in a different field—music. For over 30 years, he played Serbian folk and Balkan music with some of the best musicians locally and abroad. Music has always been a central part of his life, starting at eight in his hometown of Donji Stepci. Following the musical path of his father and uncles, who were also musicians, he first learned the guitar. Later, he found his true calling—the accordion—under the guidance of a respected teacher. His dedication and talent earned him the title of "First Accordion of North America and Canada" in 1985.

When not serving his patients, Skoric enjoys spending time in his home studio, recording acoustic music that he believes "caresses the soul." He is also a loving husband and father committed to preserving his Serbian musical heritage and passing it on to the next generation.

This early exposure to music gave him a deep understanding of sound. He learned that sound is a physical phenomenon and a human experience with immense emotional significance. This realization would later inspire him to pursue a career in hearing care, where he could help others experience the world of sound once again.

What Is an Audioprosthologist?

While the term "audioprosthologist" may not be familiar to everyone, the work is essential. An audioprosthologist specializes in diagnosing and treating hearing impairments, primarily through hearing aids. Though they are not medical doctors, audioprosthologists are highly skilled professionals trained to assess hearing problems and fit hearing aids for their patients. Boro is board-certified in hearing instrument sciences and has spent years honing his skills to help individuals regain their hearing.

Skoric holds the ACA (audioprosthologist certified in audioprosthology) designation and is nationally board-certified in hearing instrument sciences. He is an active member of the International Hearing Society and served as Vice President of the Michigan Alliance of Hearing Care Professionals for two years.

Changing Lives, One Patient at a Time

Bob Skoric has helped over 20,000 people improve their hearing and, by extension, their quality of life. According to him, hearing loss is not simply an issue of difficulty following conversations—it also impacts relationships, job performance, mental health, and personal safety. One of Boro's most significant challenges is that many individuals wait years before seeking help for their hearing loss. Some people deny their hearing loss, while others fail to realize the significant impact it has on their lives despite the health and safety risks involved.

This is one reason why Boro is passionate about educating his patients. He strives to treat hearing loss and raise awareness about addressing it early. Whether through private consultations or community outreach events, his mission remains clear: better hearing is attainable and within reach for everyone.

Hearing Aids: A Modern Solution to an Age-Old Problem

A significant part of Boro’s mission is to normalize the use of hearing aids. For some, wearing a hearing aid may still be associated with aging or weakness, but today’s hearing aids are far from the outdated devices they once were. Modern hearing aids are small but with technology, offering features like Bluetooth streaming, rechargeable batteries, and automatic sound adjustments. Some are so small they are virtually invisible.

Skoric and his team are committed to ensuring that each patient receives the best device for their needs. From the initial hearing test to follow-up visits for adjustments, they offer personalized care to help patients fully benefit from their hearing aids. For Boro, it is not just about selling a product—it’s about restoring confidence and helping people reconnect with the world of sound.

Building a Trusted Network of Care

Boro’s growth from three Beltone clinics to 37 locations results from years of hard work and trust. His clinics have earned a strong reputation for consistent care and patient satisfaction. Even though Skoric now oversees a much more extensive network, he remains involved in the day-to-day operations of his clinics. His leadership is grounded in experience, and his team reflects the values he instills: honesty, compassion, and always prioritizing the patient.

Giving Back Through Education and Advocacy

Boro’s impact extends beyond his clinics. He is passionate about educating the public on the effects of hearing loss. He hosts and participates in public discussions and seminars, sharing valuable insights about hearing care and its importance. As a former Vice President of the Michigan Alliance of Hearing Care Professionals, he has also played a key role in shaping policies supporting patients and practitioners in the hearing care field.

Where Passion Meets Purpose

Boro Skoric’s journey is far more than building a successful business or earning professional accolades—it is about purpose. Whether it’s the rhythm of Balkan music or the sound of a hearing aid fitting, his life has been driven by sound. Through his work, he has helped thousands of people restore their hearing and reconnect with the world around them.

Even with 37 clinics and a dedicated team of professionals, his work is far from over. He remains deeply committed to advancing hearing care, breaking down the stigma surrounding hearing aids, and ensuring that no one faces hearing loss alone. For Boro, the mission continues, and each patient serves as a reminder of why he started this journey in the first place.
